Primary Reference Number (PRN) : 100831 Trust : Clwyd Powys Community : Llandrillo Unitary authority : Denbighshire NGR : SJ01123752 Site Type (preferred type first) : NEOLITHIC CHAMBERED TOMB Status : scheduled monument
Description : A chambered round cairn damaged by ploughing. The top has been reduced to reveal a central chamber with two uprights in situ. The capstone seems not to have survived.
The body of the cairn is composed of earth and stones and has been ploughed so that 6-10ft of its outer circumference has been levelled reducing shape to an oval. Top of mound now 5ft above surround and considerable quantity of material has been removed exposing a megalithic chamber centrally placed, of which only two uprights remain in position. These stand about 4 and 5ft above present surface and are set end to end, slightly overlapping along W side of chamber. Other visible stones may have formed part of a circle within the body of the cairn. No evidence of capstone. (Bowen and Gresham, 1967)
