Primary Reference Number (PRN) : 90285 Trust : Gwynedd Community : Llanfihangel Ysgeifiog Unitary authority : Ynys Mon NGR : SH4598270752 Site Type (preferred type first) : POST MEDIEVAL WINDMILL
Near Berw Ychaf there stands an ancient tower, still known by the name of ""Tyddyn Hicke,"" as in 1503. The farmers say that it was a mill tower, the head of which was destroyed as soon as finished, being blown off by a strong wind from the Marsh. It stands on a commanding brow, visible in all directions for a considerable distance. The masonry is massive, but common solid, strong, and geometrically good but presenting no remarkable feature (Arch Camb, 1908).
Brief description and context of the tower at Pentre Berw (Griffith, 1910).
Either a Mill or a watchtower 3/4 mile SSE of Berw Ychaf. Built in 1503 and demolished in 1920 (Lloyd, 1964).
